Doctors Without Borders issued an unusually sharp criticism of the U.S. on Friday after the bloodthirsty Biden administration stood as the lone vote in the UN Security Council against a ceasefire in Gaza, as Israel continues its collective punishment on Palestinians.
Lynn Hastings, the UN’s humanitarian coordinator in the Palestinian territories, marked the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a somber update about the Israel campaign in Gaza and how things could have been different.
According to Omer Bartov, a strong supporter of Israel and an astute observer of events since October 7, “In brief, Israel seems to have no political plan and a very hazardous military one. It can only blame itself—not least Netanyahu, but also the military leadership—for having arrived at this point.”
In terms of costs and munitions, Washington, not Israel, is the main combatant against Gaza. On December 1 The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington has sent Israel 15,000 bombs and 57,000 artillery shells.
Israel is working up plans for a long war in Gaza that will include a multiphase strategy that involves a cocktail of bombing campaigns and a ground invasion inside the battered enclave.
Israel followed Gaza’s displaced people from the north to the south and carried out a brutal bombing campaign where hundreds of thousands were taking refuge.
James Elder, a spokesman for UNICEF, the UN’s children’s agency, posted a video on social media on Friday to express the dire situation that children in Gaza now face.
Millions of people have taken to the streets across the globe to voice their outrage and urge their governments to stop supporting Israel as it carries out a genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
While most of the rest of the world has condemned Israel for committing genocide against the Palestinian people, the U.S. and the West have refrained from using that term and condemn all those who do.
Ehud Olmert, the former Israeli prime minister, said in an interview last week that Israel’s war effort against the nearly defenseless Gazan population “must go on” until Hamas is destroyed.
