The Internal Revenue Service plans to be locked and loaded.
The Americans for Tax Reform noted that the tax-collecting agency listed a job posting on its careers page that showed the agency is looking to hire armed agents in all 50 states, including 20 sites in Texas, 18 in California, and 13 in New York and Florida.
The agents will be working for the law enforcement branch of the agency who can combine their accounting skills “with law enforcement skills to investigate financial crimes.”
Business Insider noted that the job posting called for a required minimum of 50 hours of work a week and are always on call “even during vacations and weekends.”
The agents are expected to be physically fit so they can “effectively respond to life-threatening situations.”
The report said these agents should be prepared to protect themselves or others from “physical attacks at any time and without warning and use firearms in life-threatening situations” and should not be afraid to “use force up to and including the use of deadly force,” Insider reported.
The agents must be “willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments.” The posting lists 360 vacancies in 249 locations around the U.S. The salary range is $52,921 and $94,228 a year.
The Inflation Reduction Act signed by President Joe Biden funds the IRS with $80 billion to hire 87,000 new agents over the next ten years to focus more audits on wealthy taxpayers with complicated financial lives.
Adding these agents will not increase the audit rate for individuals earning under $400,000 a year, Biden has pledged. However, the law itself contains no language requiring increased audits of high-income earners or the wealthy.
TREND FORECASTS: As we have forecast, across the globe there will be growing populist anti-tax/anti-establishment movements.
(See “SENATE PASSES BILL TO ENRICH THE RICH AND SCREW THE PEOPLE” 9 Aug 2022, “IRS: HIT THE PLANTATION WORKERS OF SLAVELANDIA, DON’T TOUCH THE RICH” 10 Jan 2023, and “SUPERSIZED IRS WILL SHRINK LIBERTY” 16 Aug 2022.)
We’ve noted that 50 percent of the $80 billion in IRS funding that has been approved by Biden will go to enforcement. Of course, the rich in the U.S. have tax accountants and lawyers to help protect them from IRS scrutiny. They will not feel the enforcement crackdown.
Ron Paul wrote in these pages last year that the IRS has a “history of disrespecting due process rights of Americans, so creating a new army of IRS agents with a mission to extract more money will lead to massive liberties violations.”
“Given the IRS’s shameful history of harassing the political enemies of whoever holds power at the moment, we should expect the new agents to target opponents of US foreign policy, gun control, government promotion of green energy, and other policies of the current administration,” he wrote.
