United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres took the unusual step on Sunday to criticize Israel for the “heartbreaking” death toll in Gaza, stating that the military operations there “have spread mass destruction and killed civilians on a scale unprecedented” during his tenure as head of the world body.
Israeli forces were seen last week driving bulldozers in cemeteries across Gaza to excavate bodies and said rescuing hostages and finding and returning their bodies was a key element of their mission in the coastal enclave.
Israeli forces withdrew from the occupied West Bank city of Modi’in Illit after violent clashes with the city’s ultra-Orthodox Peleg Yerushalmi sect, which is opposed to mainstream Zionism and cooperation with the Jewish state, i24News reported.
The Biden administration, which has fully supported Israel’s genocide in Gaza, has also provided the IDF with intelligence despite insisting that it did not participate in Israel’s “target development.”
Video emerged last week that claimed to show Israeli forces opening fire on Palestinian men in the occupied West Bank in an apparent unprovoked attack—killing one and injuring two others, which was seen as another example of indiscriminate killing carried out by the IDF.
