1. THE LAST WORLD WAR

If trend lines drawn since 2001’s War on Terror are not reversed, World War III will not only be a Top Trend of 2016 – it may be the last world war. The toll exacted by the War on Terror is staggering: trillions of wasted dollars; countries and cities destroyed; millions of refugees; and untold numbers of radicalized jihadists bent on waging holy war on the West. And battlefronts in the Middle East and beyond have grown, becoming more volatile.

Despite incontrovertible evidence of spreading wars and escalating global tensions, there has been a deafening silence in the call for peace. In fact, UK Prime Minister David Cameron labeled those opposing his bombing campaign in Syria “terrorist sympathizers.”

Why? Is it because war, violence and bloodshed are moneymakers and people see no profit in selling and championing joy, beauty and peace?

Trend Forecast: With mounting terrorism fueling more bombing, troop escalation and war talk, 2016 is on track to be marked by historic levels of violence worldwide.

I agree with and see this trend and fear it, but the jihadist movement started long before the war on terror did. I am certainly tired of war, but I am also tired of people blaming the U.S. for all of the evil in the world. Terrorism is a real problem and it won’t go away if we just ignore it. It will continue to grow and someday we will have to confront it. Doesn’t it make sense that we reduce the causes? We can disagree on the causes and on the solutions, but to do nothing will not solve the mounting problems. British philosopher Edmund Burke said “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” So for those who just criticize the current actions, and I agree many are very stupid and ill conceived, must offer a better solution. And just playing nice in the sandbox is not enough. Doing nothing against Hitler and waiting too long to take action allowed him to grow in strength and power, leading to more deaths.

When I was born, we (U.S.) overthrew a democratically elected secular leader in Iran and imposed a brutal dictator (for oil).

When I was a young man a generation later, this led to a counter-overthrow sourced by the only institution that a dictator can’t completely crack down on in a faith-valued society (the clergy). The religious fervor then unleashed reached neighboring Afghanistan prompting the Soviets to militarily support the secular government there in order to keep the Islamic fervor away from their own nearby largely Muslim-populated regions. To weaken the Soviets the US aided the Islamists who took on the Soviets by arming both their local (Taliban) and foreign Jihadist fighters who flocked there to assist them (Al Qaeda).

When I become of middle-age the same Jihadists, in a mass casualty attack (9.11), turned on their ex-supporters who had in in the meantime themselves, like the Soviets, set up military bases in Islamic lands (Saudi Arabia). In response the US invaded Afghanistan and like the Soviets got bogged down trying to hold up a secular government while fighting off the Islamists. The US also invaded Iraq which has massive untapped energy fields which gave birth to a Sunni resistance force which over time morphed from Al Quaeda in Iraq to ISIS in Iraq and Syria. To weaken Russia economically (by bringing gas to the EU from Qatar thru Syria) the US and allies supported ISIS assaults against the Syrian State which has long been backed by Russia and thus had refused the US‘s oil pipping plans to cripple Russia’s finances.

Now I am older, and again Russia is militarily backing a secular client state (Syria) against the onslaught of the Sunni Wahhabi Jihadists unleashed by the US, fearing the migration of Jihadi fever to its own large Muslim hinterland. But this time, with NATO troops and ABMs on its border and the no-first-strike doctrine repudiated by the US (Bush), Russia is not only also fighting to preserve its economic lifeline which are the energy receipts from EU, but its military red-lines as well.

If the US doesn’t wake up and change its Jihadist creating-leveraging-fighting ways in its pursuit of resource control for coexistence-eliminating hegemony, than I and all are indeed destined to go out with a Bang.

melvinsmith.. if you follow the breadcrumbs you will discover who really funds, arms and trains the terrorists around the world. You should start from after WW2. You will be surprised at who the biggest terrorist in the world really is. Sometimes the truth is right under our noses. Im not finger pointing or looking for scapegoats, but let the facts speak for themselves and connect the dots to discover the truth behind 70% of the worlds confrontations.

namecast…very astute observations and commentary. You might be surprised to learn where this war play book was inherited from. For that you need to go back to the 1800s. When the British empire plundered and raped the world of its resources and low-paid 3rd world labour. You will discover how that play book has been passed on to the U.S like a long-distance running baton. Divide and Conquer was the name of the game.

Melvinsmith. You have to think outside the box that entraps the minds of most people in Amerika and the west. This box is the product of the military-industrial-media complex that is bent on dumbing down the population to buy into all kind of stories about Islamic terrorism when almost all acts of senseless violence is the result of false flags designed by the power elite who see peace and prosperity to all as a menace to their power.
The British Empire nurtured Islamic terrorism since the midn18th century all the way until today in order to use it for its imperial aims. The Moslem Brotherhood started as a British intelligence tool after the demise of the Ottoman Empire that was split between the French and the British. The so called ISIS is another false flag at the service of the Western powers and Israel. The people who are paying the highest price for this machination are the people of the Middle East whose shattered lives will lead them into despair and more radicalization.
Just remember how prosperous and free the U.S. was under isolationism with a growing economy and sound finances and real freedom and contrast this with what is going on today. Militarism is the root cause of the decline of America and Gerald Celente is one of a dying breed of American heroes who dare stand up it.
