This is week 30 of our reporting the long trend-line of layoffs that signal a further economic downturn in a country near you. Rising inflation and rising interest rate hikes are causing companies in many sectors to lay off employees.
And of course, the more people fired, the more home foreclosures, inability to pay car loans, credit card debt, etc. The layoff trend is global. For example, job cuts in the U.K.’s retail sector near 15,000 so far this year as consumers run out of spending money and inflation stays high. Simply, it is costing people more money to buy less products and services.
