Still traumatized by last spring’s toilet paper shortage? Analysts offer hints of what to stock up on before the next shutdown is imposed.
Conagra, which owns Marie Callender, Evol, and Healthy Choice frozen dinner brands, reported strong sales in the third quarter. Procter & Gamble, maker of an array of cleaning products, saw sales rise 9 percent in the third quarter.
PepsiCo’s sales bumped up 5.4 percent during the period and Kimberly-Clark’s consumer paper products sold 9 percent more in the quarter than the year before.

Gerald Celente is calling this the “Greatest Depression” and I agree. The last “Great Depression” lasted about 12 years and with China rising we can expect the purchasing value of the dollar to decline in lockstep.
So what do you need to see you and your family safely through the next 12 years? Think in terms of covering your basic needs:
Remember the highest probability of negative outcomes from a depression will be you losing your job. Also expect taxes to increase as states and local governments adopt more socialist agendas.
Food: Stock up on items that have a long and stable shelf life, but will become more expensive as the dollar loses value – i.e. imported items like sugar, cocoa, green coffee beans, seeds as these will be great barter items in the future.
Shelter: Seek a reasonably sized lot in a safe and low tax area and away from cash starved municipalities. Perform necessary upgrades to home to bolster the security and energy efficiency of your home. Plant a garden. consider raising chickens.
Develop a side hustle – Develop skills for a side job that could be done “under the table” or be bartered. Something as simple as cutting hair.
Tools: Make sure to buy the tools now that you may need in the future.
Are you planning on burning firewood to heat your home? – get a high efficiency wood stove, several quality chainsaws, a log splitter along with the spare parts tools to keep them working for the next decade.
Planting a garden – You’ll need tools as well – how about a greenhouse? you may want to consider getting a wood chipper to make your own mulch.
Remember everyone’s situation is a little different so adjust accordingly.
