At least 15 people were killed in the Syrian capital of Damascus early Sunday in an Israeli airstrike, which was called the “deadliest” strike on the city since the start of the country’s civil war and the latest attack in Israel’s “shadow war” against Iran.

Since 2011, Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes in Syria. Israel has carried out about 400 airstrikes in Syria and other parts of the Middle East. And, the collaboration between the U.S. and Israel is focused on the eastern part of the country, the report said… where Washington is in control of its oil fields. 

Rami Abdel Rahman of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told France 24 that civilians were among those killed in the blast, including two women. The strike damaged a 10-story building, which the report said is home to senior state officials and Syrian intelligence headquarters. Orient News, the Syrian opposition news outlet, said the military strikes targeted Iranian regime officials in the densely populated Damascus neighborhood of Kafar Souseh.

The Israeli airstrike, although not unusual but never reported in the Western media or condemned by politicians, came at a particularly fragile time for one of the world’s poorest countries. Syria, like Turkey, is still recovering from a devastating earthquake that killed at least 47,000 and left 26 million in need of assistance across the two countries.

Up to 5 million Syrians may be homeless, including many already internally displaced after fleeing civil war.

The Guardian reported that the earthquake ripped open two “enormous fissures on Earth’s surface, where the land split by up to seven meters in opposite directions over the span of hundreds of miles.”

Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, Israeli intelligence and security expert now a senior researcher at the Israeli Defense Security Forum, told Fox News that “Israel continues to actively undermine and hamper Iranian efforts to supply the [Bashar] Assad regime [in Syria] and Hezbollah with advanced weaponry.”

Just take the Fox News report that was filled with propaganda from Kuperwasser who said, “According to the Information I have, some of the casualties in Damascus were a direct result of a Syrian air defense missile that struck a building. This is not the first time that unprofessional Syrian air defense fire causes unwanted casualties.”

No questions asked, no interest in who these “sources” were, they just ran the comment. When Russia says a Ukrainian anti-rocket missile hits a building, it’s Kremlin propaganda. 

While the Western media continually chastises Russia for its war against Ukraine and its intent to occupy Ukraine, those who note Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestinian and Syrian land are denounced as being “anti-Semites.”
