U.S. Biden Administration “climate czar” John Kerry has not openly called for farm confiscations in the U.S., similar to what is now happening to Netherlands farmers.

But this past Wednesday, Kerry did edge closer to that kind of radicalism by arguing that radical “net-zero” carbon emissions goals would be impossible to attain without squarely focusing on U.S. farming.

“Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry warned Wednesday that the world can’t tackle climate change without first addressing the agriculture sector’s emissions.

During an “AIM for Climate Summit” organized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Kerry argued that farm emissions would have to be addressed: 

“A lot of people have no clue that agriculture contributes about 33% of all the emissions of the world,” he said during his keynote address. “We can’t get to net-zero, we don’t get this job done unless agriculture is front and center as part of the solution. So all of us understand here the depths of this mission.

“Food systems themselves contribute a significant amount of emissions just in the way in which we do the things we’ve been doing. With a growing population on the planet – we just crossed the threshold of 8 billion fellow citizens around the world – emissions from the food system alone are projected to cause another half a degree of warming by mid-century.”

Western advocates for radical “climate change” agenda goals are focusing with increasing openness on supposedly unsustainable population growth and farm production emissions as major contributing factors to a climate “crisis.”

But, as The Trends Journal has pointed out, Western first world nations:

● Are not contributing to world population increases

● Have long been contributed the least carbon emissions, compared with other regions, and industrial powers like China and India

● Have farming industries with the relative most efficient farm production and yields on earth

Some on Twitter pointed to stories claiming Kerry outright endorsed U.S. farm confiscations, including snapshots of an article headline from thepeoplesvoice.tv. (“John Kerry Declares War on US Farmers: Gov’t Farm Confiscations ‘Not Off The Table’,” 17 May 2023.)

But The Trends Journal could find no instance where Kerry explicitly said confiscating farms in a Netherlands-style policy move was not “off the table.”

At the AIM conference, Kerry did display the kind of climate alarmism that has made radical impositions in the U.S. concerning natural gas usage, bans on gas-powered appliances, combustion car engine sunsets, and other increasing climate agenda restrictions, a reality.

Concerning the U.S. farming sector, Kerry said:

“This sector needs innovation now more than ever. We’re facing record malnutrition at a time when agriculture, more than any other sector, is suffering from the impacts of the climate crisis. And I refuse to call it climate change anymore. It’s not change. It’s a crisis.”

A related issue to the extreme rhetoric of elitist climate activists targeting economic and social policies of least-offender western countries, is the curious acquisition of huge swathes of farmland by figures like Bill Gates and even Oprah Winfrey.

Winfrey recently purchased 870 acres of very pricey farm acreage in Maui, and overall, owns well over a thousand acres in Hawaii as reported by therealdeal.com. (“Oprah Winfrey buys 870 acres of land in Maui for $6.6M,” 5 Mar 2023.)

Gates, meanwhile, has been actively acquiring farmland all over the U.S. for years. He currently holds over 240 thousand in farm acreage, and over 260 thousand total acres of land, spanning some 19 states.
