CENSORSHIP 2.0: THUNBERG FORCED TO DELETE TWEET CALLING TO PROTECT PALESTINIANS

Greta Thunberg, the climate activist, faced swift criticism from the Israeli Armed Forces after calling for a ceasefire as Israel wages a massive air campaign against Palestinians after the high-profile Hamas attack that killed over 1,400 people in Israel earlier this month.

Thunberg said the world needs to unite and call for an immediate ceasefire, and “justice and freedom for Palestinians and all civilians affected.”

Politico noted that the climate activist also shared a post from a pro-Palestinian group from Germany that said genocide is occurring in the coastal city.

Ayre Shalicar, a spokesman from the Israeli army, told the news outlet that anyone who identified with Thunberg “in any way in the future, in my view, is a terror supporter.”

“Because what Greta is doing, that she is now showing solidarity with Gaza while not saying a word about the massacres of Israelis, shows that she is actually not in favor of the Palestinians, but that she is sweeping the terror of the Palestinians or Hamas and Islamic Jihad under the table as if it did not exist.”

Shalicar told the outlet later that his comments were out of a “deep sense of pain” and did not reflect his views or that of the IDF.

Israel’s X account, managed by the Middle Eastern country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, seemed to agree with Shalicar’s first remark and posted on X: “@GretaThunberg, Hamas doesn’t use sustainable materials for their rockets which have BUTCHERED innocent Israelis. The victims of the Hamas massacre could have been your friends. Speak up.”

Thunberg capitulated to the outcry and eventually deleted the post.

From COVID War, to Ukraine War to Israel War, you are blackballed from the mainstream media and social media and denounced as being a “conspiracy theorist,” “unpatriotic” and/or an “anti-Semite.”

For the politicians in charge of running and ruining nations, messaging in the news media is half that battle, and it is incumbent on countries to present issues as though they are black and white. There can be no debate.

Israel War

The news media provides propagandist support for Western-aligned countries by following the script. Hamas must be defined as a terror group, while Israelis who violently force Palestinians out of their homes are “settlers,” and when they kill them for resisting, they are termed “militants.”

Yara Eid, a human rights activist, was interviewed by Sky News last weekend and called out the reporter giving the interview for her particular phrasing of the conflict.

Eid noted that the host started the interview by saying 1,400 people were killed in the Hamas attack and then said more than 4,000 Gazans have died in the conflict.

“I think language is really important to use because, as a journalist, you have the moral responsibility to report on what’s happening. Palestinians don’t just die, they get killed. They are actually being subjected to ethnic cleansing, to genocide through the last 75 years,” she said.

She also took issue with the reporter referring to the conflict as a Hamas-Israel war.

“Framing it as such is very misleading because it poses the thing as though Israel is an equal power, but it’s an occupying power. And it actually has the responsibility of protecting all civilian lives and children in Gaza. But what we’ve been seeing is that more than 1,700 of those being killed are children. So this is really not a war versus Hamas. Clearly, so many Israeli spokespeople have gone on TV and said, ‘This is a war against Palestinians in Gaza.’ And even if we imagine a world without Hamas…if we think of the West Bank, Palestinians have been killed, there has been land theft, and there has been ethnic cleansing.”

The tone was set last week when U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken deleted a post calling for a ceasefire. (See “U.S. HAD, FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, CALLED FOR PEACE IN ISRAEL, GAZA…BUT POST WAS QUICKLY DELETED,” 17 Oct 2023.)

Previously, the State Department’s Office of Palestinian Affairs said on X that it “unequivocally condemned the attack of Hamas terrorists and the loss of life that has incurred. We urge all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks. Terror and violence solve nothing.”

That comment was also deleted and replaced with a more militant post stating that the U.S. “unequivocally” condemns the attack.

PUBLISHER’S NOTE: It should be noted that the politicians running Israel are not Semites. They are eastern European Ashkenazis from Kazakhstan.

Palestinians are Semites as are those from the Horn of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and the western coast of the Mediterranean.
